Chris Boston Interview

Original Doll Artist, Chris Boston, has been sculpting her one-of-a-kind creations for more than twenty-five years and is now recognised as one of Australia’s most highly regarded artists in her chosen field, winning numerous awards along the way.
Each doll she creates is genuinely unique and a product of her own imagination with the head, hands and feet all hand-sculpted from Australian-made polymer clay and the clothes where possible, made of recyclable doilies, dresses and fabrics.  It is often said that her dolls look so ‘real’ that they appear to be alive!

Ali Kerr Interview

As Program Manager of the Communication Design degree at Billy Blue College of Design in Brisbane Ali Kerr is an enthusiastic creative who’s not afraid to get on a soapbox about her passion. Her twitter profile reads, "Mad about communicating the message: through design, theatre, voice, word and any other mischievous ways I can...and I love monsters!" Brisbane, Australia.

Could you recommend some reading material that stimulates creativity?

I think if you’re in the mood to be inspired you can find it anywhere. Google creativity and there are about 297,00 results. A fail-safe plan would be to grab a cup of tea, a comfy chair and settle into some videos on Ted.com.

Drink and Draw

The creative juices started flowing again when I attended the latest exhibition from Lorraine Emerson at Ocean View Estate, Mt Mee. I could thoroughly recommend one of her classes. And, the food at OVE is amazing.

Selling Craft

I had the opportunity to interview a jewellery maker yesterday who shared some of her secrets for selling her necklaces and bracelets. She said that it is very important to make a connection. One way of doing this is to tell the story of where she has sourced her beads e.g. it might be an interesting country or city, a garage sale or a shell found on the beach.
